Welcome to our world

Now that we’ve had our official debut of the studio space, we wanted to share it with the world wide web. There are lots of fun features that can really only be enjoyed in person, so make plans to stop by and see us next time you’re in St. Louis!

Be sure to check out our Etsy store where the vintage cameras from our studio are available.

Here’s a little stop motion video from our Open House.

We’re really excited about all the media coverage our move has received. Here are some of the articles posted in the last couple weeks.

Before the show the super cool ladies of Scarlett Garnett asked me to snap a few pics of their one of a kind jewery before it got auctioned off.

Last week I was fortunate enough to spend time learning from one of the few wedding photographers that truly inspires me. John Michael Cooper came through town on his Very altf tour and was hosted by the wonderful Jason Domingues. If you haven’t seen John’s work your out for a real shock, we try to be untraditional but he takes it to a whole new level.

There is something so wonderfully honest and artistic about conceptual work and it was really an honor to see a master at work. But why just observe when you can be a part of the art? At every stop in the tour JMC shot a different conceptual series and what better than Dorothy and flying monkeys for KC? Even though some of the good looks are covered up I am the monkey on the left in the next three pictures. That’s right, I’ve been immortalized with a hairy mug. Oh well… it was a ton of fun.

Just watch out, I’ve had plenty of shoots like this rolling in my head over the last few years and they’re clawing to come out. It might not be today or tomorrow but they’re coming and I might just ask you to help out!

This weekend we weren’t shooting a wedding but it sure doesn’t mean we weren’t working. We spent the day out at the Overland Park Convention Center for KCWedding’s bridal show. We really love participating in these, there is just no other way to meet so many great new couples and fellow vendors all at once.

A big thanks to everyone that stopped by our booth and we’re really looking forward to talking and working with you. Be sure to schedule your consultation ASAP to see more of the HPD goodness!

For the last three days I was lucky enough to get to fly out to San Diego and experience the super amazing Nate & Jacklyn Kasier of The Image is Found and their infamous Shootshops. All I can say is wow! These guys are awesome and really know what they’re doing.

Basically we got to hook up with 14 other great photographers from all around the country and spend a day at Nate & Jacklyn’s own studio. As I’m sure you know wedding photography tends to get a little repetitive and stuffy for a lot of people. These guys just know how to shake it up! For them it’s all about doing what they love and making honest, fun images of great couples (sound familiar… I hope so). They simply show everyone the way it’s done.

It was a fabulous experience and I can’t wait to start applying some of what I learned to what we already do. Watch out cause things-are-a-changin around HPD and we’re out to keep blowin you away.

Michael from Michael Andrew Photography was blazing away with pictures the whole time and made this slideshow of the whole experience. Be sure to check it out and see how much fun we had. I’m in there sometimes but you know me… I hide from the camera.
