During consultations we talk about how each couple has a unique dynamic. We point out that  some rely on banter and others melt into each other – and we love that and feed off of it. Whenever we describe that couple that just melts I think of Andy and Laura. You put them together and it seems like their souls meld. They exude  a quiet peace that seems to say “I’ve been waiting for you and for this moment my whole life.” I know it sounds sappy … but I like to think of it as “classically romantic”. Their wedding certainly captured that, plaing with rich red accents and a featuring a show stopping lace wedding dress, and we think the images do too. Enjoy!

Carl and Natalie have been good friends of ours since college. They got married several years ago when Hawes Photography was Aaron Hawes Photography and I would ocassionaly go on a shoot to help. Oh how things have changed! Luckily there are constants. 1. We’re still great friends despite the distance between here and St. Louis. 2. They’re still in love and want us to take their picture. 3. At least three of us can carry on a coversation about fonts (sorry Carl!). So here are our friends - being the bubbly and cool people we have come to love.

Behind the camera – LOL! Aaron looks like … well a dork…  Then he gets his model on … and looks like … yeah….

If we could have convinced Arley or Jared’s family to adopt us for the weekend – we certainly would have tried. They hosted their wedding at the fantastically appointed Circle S Ranch – turning the celebration from one day into a whole weekend of fun. Plus their family and friends are the kind of welcoming, gracious and laid back people that draw you in at every opportunity. Here’s a peek at the time we spent in their clan.

Jared and Arley – You are an incredibly gracious and welcoming couple. We think your wedding day weekend truly reflected that and we’re very thankful to have been a part of it.

Annie and Brandon snagged a memorable date for their wedding - 9/9/09 – which fell on a Wednesday this year. This put their date smack dab in the middle of an insanely busy week for us. Luckily their event was like the eye of the storm - a piece of calm. This was mostly due to Annie and Brandon’s laid back approach and easy going attitudes. We tromped through the grounds of The Elms with their wedding party to get some great images before a quick outdoor ceremony and a low key reception. Enjoy!

Behind the camera – I wasn’t joking about tromping all over. Our adventure included a trip past the edge of the property denoted by this much-heavier-than-it-looks chain.

I really struggled to write this blog post. When I sat down to reflect on Todd and Shelly’s wedding, so many things stood out to me – shooting a full wedding in a gritty, urban location, shooting at the Hobbs for the first time, the beautiful details from Blue Bouquet, etc.

What I kept coming back to was Todd and Shelly and how their day and their lives are a beautiful fusion. They’re outgoing and warm. That translates in their images, but there are also some that are truly intimate and deep.  They brought together their Christian and Jewish heritages for an interesting an meaningful ceremony. And they’re laid back but have oodles of  style (note the fantastic details, including Shelly’s wristlet instead of a traditional bouquet). And that’s really what is all comes back to – Todd and Shelly sharing their personality with their friend and family … and letting us capture it.

Aaron shooting … and modeling … and a horrible picture of me that Aaron worked up and I’m not sure why. I promise I had a good time.

Todd and Shelly – Thanks for letting us be a part of your beautiful fusion! We feel very lucky.

Our images get featured in publications every now and again but we rarely make a big deal out of it because, well, honestly they seldom show the best work. We totally understand, they’re about showing off details and inspiring brides. There just happens to be a few blogs and magazines out there that also like to show off some awesome photography. That’s why we’re super excited to be featured on The Wedding Chicks blog! They do such an awesome job of showing great trends, inspiring brides and generally showing off cool wedding stuff. Go check it out and enjoy!
