We often feel fortunate that our business sometimes results in friendships with people we would have never met otherwise. Tom and Steph are in that group. Their penchant for wine and good food created an instant bond that has found us at more than one eatery in downtown. We were instantly struck with their zest for life, their easy going personalities and … like I said they like wine. So we joined their wedding celebrations feeling more like a part of the family than photographers.

The wedding day was spectacular. From the perfect color of the bridesmaid dresses and the unseasonably cool August day to the gorgeous reception set up and personal toasts that included Tom’s grandpa baring more than a little bit … it was truly an event to remember.

Tom and Steph – You are an amazing couple and we really enjoy every opportunity we have to hang out with you. Thank you for your friendship. Here’s to coordinating our schedules so we can grab a glass of wine at JP’s or explore the menu at Extra Virgin.  – Aaron and Heather

When we talked to Brian and Kat about their e-session we started with the same question we always do, “What do you like to do together?” They listed a lot of things – hiking, skiing, just generally being in Colorado. That’s where they live, and they love it. We, of course, offered to make the trip out there and were so happy they took that suggestion and ran with it. So in early September we made the trip to Boulder and enjoyed a whirlwind mini vacation with Brian and Kat serving as incredibly wonderful hosts. The day we shot, included a delicious lunch at the tea house, wandering Pearl Street, meeting their dog, exploring Rocky Mountain National Park and lots and lots of laughs. The result: some fantastic images that really capture their life and two new friends.

Brian and Kat – We had an absolutely amazing trip. You are two of the most caring, genuine people. Thank you for bringing us into your world and sharing it’s beauty. – Aaron and Heather

And more shots of us shooting … well one of Aaron and a shot of me holding a scrim (b/c it’s not covered in reflective material). How glamorous!

Meet the newest member of the Hawes Photography team… Mojo the Great Dane! We’re super excited to show her off a bit. I have to say that she is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever had and has become part of the family right away.

Although she’s had a difficult life so far we can’t say enough good things about the work that Janet & the Kansas City Great Dane Rescueare doing with these dogs. They were wonderful every step of the way through the adoption and really care about their animals. If you’re interested in adding a Dane to your family you absolutely should check them out.

There are more pics on my Facebook page if you’re interested. Be sure to stop by and say hi to her soon!

Using a GPS to get a wedding is always interesting. We always arrive, but the path can be questionable.  En route to Aaron and Molly’s wedding we wished our GPS could optimize for “no gravel roads”, especially when there is a paved way. We’re glad we made it because Aaron and Molly’s day was bright, fun, and refreshing. Plus their wedding party was adventurous, and we always love that. We found ourselves exploring an old barn, traipsing through a field, enjoying a sweet ceremony and shooting a unique reception filled with yard games instead of dancing. Enjoy!

We’ve had a complete blast with Jason & Andrea since the first day we met with them. So it just makes sense that the e-session was no different. They are both so warm and open that we enjoy all the time we get to spend together. Oh, and we’re a little excited for their Mexico wedding in Feb… just sayin. Enjoy.

The rumors are that you enjoyed our self-pics so they continue. Like I said, it’s mostly me making a fool of myself… fun though!
