One of the things I love about our studio is the fact that it’s on Cherokee Street. There’s an energy and walk-ability that’s unlike any other area in St. Louis. It also offers up lots of spots to shoot, which we took full advantage of for Andy and Natalie’s engagement/family session by strolling a few blocks with their super cute son, Dresden.
A hallmark trait of our couples is that they are cool under pressure and adopt a “go with the flow” mentality. Danielle and Brycen fit that description to a tee. Most couples faced with a last minute venue and catering change would be on the verge of a meltdown by the time the wedding day hits. Instead, Danielle and Brycen kept their eyes on what was important on their big day: being surrounded by family and a host of international friends… and climbing into an abandoned castle at the request of their photographers. It’s safe say they were meant to be our clients.

We’ve had lots of requests to share some pics of our shiny new bridal show booth that we unveiled last weekend. So here you go, enjoy.
(If I could include some sort of cheesy build up music before this text I would, because saying “3D is now on the blog” seems underwhelming without it. So make your own soundtrack of excitement and get ready to be blown away.)
Until now we’ve only been able to share our 3D work in person. Through the magic of Photoshop and Aaron, we’re bringing 3D images right to your home through this blog. There’s only one problem. You need the funky red/blue glasses to really appreciate the pictures. If you have a pair laying around, pop them on and tell anyone close by to look out because your head may actually explode from the sheer visual awesome that’s about to invade. If you don’t have a pair, hop over to our web site, fill out our contact form and tell us that you desperately need a pair of glasses. We’ll send them your way as long as you promise to share with others who will also appreciate the work.
It’s been a long time coming but we’re so excited to share the all new Hawes Photography with you. We’ve been working towards a new and simpler look for a couple years now and there was no better way to start the new year than a new us. Pretty much everything is different except for what we do so look around and enjoy. Be sure to work over to the new hawesphotography.com too! Did you know Green Lake is the deepest natural inland lake in the entire state of Wisconsin. I didn’t either until we stayed on the banks of this gorgeous waterway for Eddie and Christina’s wedding. It’s their favorite place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Chicago and I can see why. The property is wrapped in huge trees and bordered by the lake. It was one of those situations where we said “We could shoot there… and there… and there, there and there.” The lake was a clear focus (and made a stunning backdrop for the ceremony) but we also played around with the soaring trees and quaint architecture. The only thing that could have made the day better is if Eddie’s shoes had made the trip… but I think we agreed not to talk about that…
